Charlie starts University through Hexagon

Charlie, our Design Technician, started at Leeds Beckett University this week to study for a civil engineering design engineer apprenticeship. He will complete this through our professional development programme to further his career and industry knowledge.

Charlie joined the business back in 2020 as a 16-year-old after coming here for work experience. Since then, Charlie has completed a Level 3 civil engineering at Leeds College of Building. Charlie was able to learn whilst working and complete his end point assessment and achieve his Level 3 NVQ.

At Hexagon (formally Epsilon Design Engineers Ltd), he has worked on our flagship projects. These projects include the Tonbridge Maintenance Facility and Kings Heath Multifunctional Facility.

Continuing his progression and professional development, he has started his next educational chapter. He is working towards his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, from which he will graduate in 2028.

“Being able to complete my apprenticeship part-time means that I work with Hexagon to gain real-life industry experience as well as on-the-ground training to maximise what I can learn,” shares Charlie.

Charlie’s time at Hexagon has been marked by his eagerness to learn and grow. He has acquired a diverse range of qualifications and skills, including PTS (Personal Track Safety), Emergency first aid, Fire Marshall training course, CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme), Manual Handling, CDM Skills Workshop, Risk Assessment and Method Statement Training Course, and SEATS (Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme). His versatility is a testament to the wide range of opportunities available at Hexagon.

We wish him all the best in his academic progression.
