DESCRIPTION.
At Southampton depot, an Automatic Vehicle Inspection System (AVIS) was installed to enhance the ongoing monitoring of consumable components across the Siemens train fleet.
The system provides real-time data and detailed reporting on the condition of key equipment, improving maintenance efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting the safe and reliable operation of the fleet.
This investment ensures Siemens can continue to deliver a high standard of service while optimising lifecycle management of its assets.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS Hexagon’s scope of design works covered all key elements required to integrate the new system into the depot, including: • Reinforced concrete bases – providing a stable and durable foundation for the new equipment • Coordinated service routes – ensuring efficient integration with existing infrastructure • Power and water supply layouts with electrical schematics – delivering reliable services to support continuous operation • GRP screens – enhancing safety and protection within the facility • Permanent way through the new installation – maintaining smooth rail operations • Safe access routes – supporting maintainability and secure movement around the works
